The Frauenkirche (church of Our Lady) is located at the main market in Nuremberg. An example of brick Gothic architecture, it was built on the initiative of Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor between 1352 and 1362. The church contains many sculptures, some of them heavily restored. Numerous works of art from the Middle Ages are kept in the church.

Photography Tips

For the best photos of the Frauenkirche in Nuremberg, shoot in the early morning or late afternoon to capture the soft, warm light. Position yourself in the central square to include the entire church, and use a wide-angle lens for a dramatic effect. Avoid midday when the light can be harsh. If possible, photograph from a slight angle to emphasize the church's beautiful details and towering spires.

Travel Information

To reach the Frauenkirche in Nuremberg, take public transportation such as the U-Bahn or trams to the "Opernhaus" or "Lorenzkirche" stops, both of which are within walking distance. Alternatively, if you're coming by train, you can walk from Nuremberg's main station (Hauptbahnhof), which takes about 15 minutes. The church is located in the central market square, easily recognizable by its impressive Gothic architecture.
