Germany Schloss Alsbach
Alsbach Castle was built around 1235 as Bickenbach Castle by the Lords of Bickenbach on the hill above the village of Alsbach. The Central German noble family can be traced back to 1130 in Bickenbach. Bickenbach Castle was first mentioned in three documents from the years 1241 to 1245. The main castle was designed in a classic triangular shape, part of the outer ring wall and a narrow ward have been preserved. The restored keep, which is accessible from the defensive wall, is particularly impressive. It measures a good 19 meters in height and has a diameter of eleven meters.
In 1997 it was taken over by the historical and cultural association, Schloss Alsbach e. V. to restore and maintain the castle ruins. Since the year 2000, the association has managed the castle independently as the responsible body for the complex.
