The New Palace (German: Neues Palais) is a palace situated on the western side of the Sanssouci park in Potsdam, Germany. The building was begun in 1763, after the end of the Seven Years' War, under King Friedrich II (Frederick the Great) and was completed in 1769. It is considered to be the last great Prussian Baroque palace.

Photography Tips

It will be a nice idea to take a grand angular to be able to take the whole palace.

Travel Information

If you are looking for the fastest option to go to Potsdam from the center of Berlin by public transport, I definitely recommend the regional train RE1. It has fewer stops than the suburban train or S-Bahn and is very comfortable.

As I imagine your hotel will be close to the center, you can take the RE1 train from Alexanderplatz, Friedrichstraße or Berlin Hauptbahnhof stations, which is the central train station.

If you get on at Berlin Hauptbahnhof station, it is only 4 stops to Potsdam: Zoologischer Garten, Charlottenburg, Wannsee and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. The trip takes 25 minutes and it flies by.

Please note that to go to Potsdam you need a transport ticket covering zones ABC (zone AB does not work for you). A single ticket costs 3,80 € and 2,70 € for children from 6 to 14 years old (children under 6 years old travel for free)
