Mainz Cathedral (German: Mainzer Dom) is a cathedral located in the German city of Mainz. It is a huge and imposing basilica of red sandstone and one of the most outstanding examples of Romanesque architecture in the world. Together with the nearby Romanesque cathedrals of Speyer and Worms, it is one of the so-called imperial cathedrals (Kaiserdome) in the German region of Rhineland-Palatinate.1 It belongs to the diocese of Mainz.
