The Augustusburg hunting lodge was built in the Renaissance style between 1568 and 1572 above the town of the same name on the Schellenberg 516 asl on the northern edge of the Ore Mountains (Germany). The landmark, which is visible from afar, is also known as the “crown of the Erzgebirge”. It is located 12 km east of Chemnitz and 21 km southwest of Freiberg in the Free State of Saxony.
