The Old Town Hall was built around 1420 as the town's merchant and tax house and, with its magnificent half-timbered south gable, is considered the main work of Alemannic half-timbered architecture. Between 1586 and 1589, Heinrich Schickhardt erected a Renaissance-style gable front with a decorative clock tower in front of the north side.
