Germany Heathland of Mehlingen

This spot is an old military training area and nature reclaims its space again. A beautiful heather area is the result. The spot is especially worth to visit at end of August / beginning of September. Then the heather blooms in the typical violet color. At the same time first autumn fog can be found there.
Don't destroy the plants by walking cross-country. Stay at the trails and paths.

This is definitely a spot for sunrise shootings. Best time is late summer. Before sunrise the scene can be very mystic and foggy. And when the sun is above the horizon and between you and the sun is a tree the sunbeams will be visible in the fog. The heath is big but the marked position is in a depression where fog collects. This guaranties best photo results when you are looking for beams.
But of course all the other areas are worth to be explored.
A lot of different kinds of pictures are possible.

You can reach this spot easily by car. Park it near the supermarket. Cross the highway over the pedestrian bridge.
