Germany Herr Gauss
The Gauss Monument in Braunschweig was designed by the sculptor Fritz Schaper and has stood on the south-western slope of the Gaussberg, at the northern end of the Inselwall, since 27 June 1880, the day it was unveiled. It commemorates the important mathematician, statistician, astronomer, geodesist, electrical engineer and physicist Carl Friedrich Gauss, who was born in Brunswick in 1777
