Next to the famous viewpoint at Seealpsee, there’s a striking mountain ridge that offers breathtaking views over the shimmering lake and the surrounding Allgäu Alps. The ridge is especially impressive in the soft morning light or during the golden hour, when the shadows bring out the rugged features of the landscape.

A mid-range zoom lens is great for capturing the dramatic layers of the mountains. To make the scene more dynamic, try framing the lake below with the ridge in the foreground. Sunrise or sunset provides the best lighting for this location.

Travel Information

The hike to Seealpsee starts from the parking lot in Oberstdorf, and from there, it’s a moderate walk to the lake. The ridge is easily accessible from the main viewpoint, with trails leading up for a better vantage point.
