Germany Berliner Cathedral

  • Please log in or sign up for free to see the GPS coordinates & weather for this photo spot
You have to invest 7€ (5€ reduced for students etc) to see the inside of this majestic cathedral. With it, you not only get access to the nave but also to the crypt (lower level) and the top of the dome (270 steps) with a 360° view over Berlin.

Photography Tips

You will have to leave your bags and tripod outside stored in a locker room (2€ deposit fee). This room has video surveillance so your equipment should be quite safe (though the locker itself is not safe). You should be able to get a small pocket tripod inside. I just placed my camera on the floor and triggered it via Wi-Fi. Since I had a fisheye lens on, my remote cable would have needed to be very long :) Hello, Wi-Fi remote function!

Travel Information

The cathedral is some minutes by foot from the Museumsinsel and the Alexanderplatz which is kind of the city center. Berlin is not the best place to visit by car. Better to travel around via subs, trams and busses. You have to check out all the other lovely museums in this area of Berlin.

A beautiful photograph, excellent exposure and colour. Can you please supply details of the lens? Was it a rectilinear fisheye?

Thanks Robert! Yes, of course. This was a rectilinear 8mm fisheye lens on an APS-C camera at f/5.6.
