Germany Halde Lothringen
The Lothringen slag heap in Bochum-Gerthe belongs to the former Lothringen I/II colliery, which ceased operations in 1957. The 136-meter-high slag heap features the 200-meter-long installation "Über(n) Ort" (About Place) by artist Kirsten Kaiser.
Twenty-three yellow pipes, which increase in height towards the east, are connected to a horizontal pipe that was originally illuminated at night. However, due to vandalism, the lighting has been broken for some time. Another installation, "The Three Great Gentlemen," is located in the immediate vicinity of the slag heap.
