The origins of Havixbeck House probably date back to the ancestral seat of the Knights of Havekesbecke in the 12th/13th centuries. The Havixbeck farm was first documented in 1369. By 1654, the present western section had been added to the old manor house. The massive gate tower was built around 1670. The castle was expanded and rebuilt several times in the 19th century. Around 1850, the outer bailey and inner bailey, which had previously stood on separate islands, were connected first by a drawbridge and, from 1831, by a brick bridge. In 1905, the permanent bridge was built at the southern end of the castle island. The gable of the manor house received its present form in 1931. The castle is privately owned and not open to the public.
