Germany Schloss Moritzburg
The origins of Moritzburg Castle date back to a hunting lodge built before 1542. The "Dianenburg" hunting lodge already possessed four thick round towers and a thick defensive wall. From 1550 onward, it served as the administrative seat of the Moritzburg district. From 1656 to 1672, the hunting lodge was expanded into the castle in its present form. From 1723 to 1733, the castle was converted into a Baroque hunting and pleasure palace. Today, the castle houses a museum. The castle and its park are open to visitors.
