The Minister Achenbach coal mine in Lünen operated from 1877 to 1992. Shaft 4 was sunk between 1918 and 1921 and began production in 1924, reaching a final depth of 1,012 meters as part of the 3/4 complex. After the mine's closure, the headframe of Shaft 4 was preserved and complemented in 1995 by the Colani-Ufo, an elliptical office structure designed by Luigi Colani. The "Colani-Egg" symbolizes the Ruhr area's structural transformation and serves as the landmark of the Lüntec Technology Center. It is illuminated at night, popular with photographers, and part of the Industrial Heritage Trail.
