Germany Zeche Ewald, Schacht 1/2/7
The Ewald mine was founded in 1873 and became one of the most productive coal mines in the Ruhr area. Shaft 4, sunk between 1907 and 1911, served as a ventilation shaft and played a key role in the mine's air circulation system. After the mine's closure in 2000, the site underwent extensive revitalization. Today, the former boiler house hosts the RevuePalast Ruhr cabaret theater, and since 2013, the Sportschau-Club has been broadcast from the underground bar. The preserved buildings, including Shaft 4, are part of the Industrial Heritage Trail and symbolize the Ruhr area's structural transformation.
