Germany Tiger & Turtle, Duisburg
Tiger & Turtle – Magic Mountain is a landmark at „Heinrich-Hildebrandt-height“ at Angerpark at Duisburg-Angerhausen, imitating a roller coaster. The heap rises 35 m above surroundig street level (67 m above sea level). A visitor of the sculpture can see at good sight the surrounding industrial spaces e.g. the metallurgical plants „Krupp Mannesmann“ at Hüttenheim, the city of Duisburg, the river Rhine especially at darkness, and up to Düsseldorf (e.g. airport, rhine tower and the illuminated pylons of “Rheinknie-bridge”.
The artists describe their opus as following: „Tiger and Turtle takes over the immanent dialectics of velocity and stagnation in relation to a situation of radical change of the region and it’s change regarding reconstruction and re-building. As this sculpture is reducing the expectations adhering to the picture of a roller coaster to absurdity it is reflecting it’s own role to a super-regional emblem which inevitably is added as a picture. This confronts the logic of eternal growth with an absurd-contradictory structure which resists an explicit interpretation.
I love this written bullshit which quite probably was high-salaried but nevertheless and not only in the blue hour it is an impressive photo location.

It is hard to take Pictures on the sculpture, because it swings a bit, if other People walk around up on it.
Take a wide-angle lens with you.
