Germany Geisberg in the Siebengebirge
The view is to the west. From here, one looks across the Rhöndorf valley to Rhöndorf with the Rhine and to the Drachenfelser Ländchen on the other side of the Rhine. To the north (right), the view is limited by the Schallenberg, Wolkenburg, and Drachenfels. The view to the south goes as far as Oberwinter. Unfortunately, the view of Bad Honnef is obscured by the Breibergen. You can only see part of the island of Grafenwert and the district of Lohfeld.
Photography Tips
The tower of the castle ruins on the Drachenfels is at the height of the horizon. This means that at certain times the sun sets exactly behind the tower, which is a very beautiful and interesting motif. On 11 February and 30 October, this is exactly the case. But you can also go two days before or later.
You also have a wonderful motif in autumn, when nature glows in bright colours from yellow to red. Then, in the morning/early morning, the sun is behind you and illuminates the slopes of the Drachenfels and Wolkenburg.

Travel Information
The Geisberg is located between Lohrberg and Drachenfels on the Rheinsteig and many hiking trails lead to it. Since I assume that you will set out with complete photo equipment (photo backpack with several lenses and tripod), I recommend the car park on the Margaretenhöhe as the starting point for the hike.
Please pay attention to the parking fees!
From the car park, take the path in the direction of the Milchhäuschen, which has the advantage that you can walk the first two kilometres on a well-maintained path. The gradients here are also moderate. After a good 30 minutes, you reach the Lietschen Hut (note: there was a construction site there in winter 2016), which is the second refuge on the trail. From there, a small forest path leads left into the forest, which you follow. The last 200m before the summit is steeply uphill. Unfortunately, the path is unpaved here. Once you reach the top, first take a breather. There are path stones all along the way to show you the right way.
