Germany Urach Waterfalls
Nearly 40m-high waterfall. Further down, the stream (Brühlbach) flows in beautiful cascades and through lovely pools through the woodland, making for some nice, more intimate shots.
Photography Tips
Popular daytrip destination and very touristy in the summer from about 9:30 am onwards. Daytrippers literally show up in hords. Therefore, be up early, even though the spectacular light situations don't happen before 10:00 either, which is a dilemma. Bring a tripod of course, a wide angle lense and a polarizer to control light reflections in the water. Be prepared to wipe your lense/filter off all the time because it will get sprayed constantly.
Travel Information
Large public parking lot, day ticket 3 euros. Easy one-mile stroll to the waterfall. Problem: The ticket machines work from nine to five only (no joke!) and if you walk to the waterfall before 9am (I set out at six), you don't want to be back by nine. Solution: Park at the free P&R 500 yards up the road (train icon on the map).
