The ruin of Eldena-Abbey is a very pittoresque spot. Stones were taken from this ruin to built up the university in Greifswald. Trees have been planted where in former times pillar had been placed. Therefore Architecture and nature find a symbiosis in this place.

Photography Tips

It is not easy to find a view which does not show any other (modern) buildings in the background, since the ruin is situated within an urban settlement.
This photo is taken with a focal length of 55mm with a Nikon D750 on 4th october 2017 at about 6 pm.
The glow of the sunlight is intensified by the orton-effect.

Travel Information

You can reach Greifswald, situated in north-east Germany by train or by car taking the A 20. Eldena is an urban settlement situated about 5 km east from Greifswald centre.
