On Mount Velouhi (Tymfistos) at an altitude of 1870 meters there is a small alpine pond with a diameter of approximately 25 meters. This lake maintains almost constant levels all year round. This is due to the melting of the snow covering the area around which they are sometimes kept until June but also to the existence of underground springs.

This small pond is used by migratory breeders to quench their animals that they bring during the summer months to feed on the rich pastures that are formed after the winter.

If you decide to follow the M12 trail leading from the city of Karpenissi to the top of Velouchi (see the paths of Agia Paraskevi - Karaoulia - High Peak of Velouchi and Karpenissi Ski Center - High Peak of Velouchi) do not miss to visit the small alpine lake which is located just 850 meters from the Velouchi Shelter (the Velouchi Shelter is the large building just above the Karpenissi ski center, on our left as we come from Karpenissi). You can take this 850 meters walk either by walking or by car, following the forest path. Whatever it is, it will be good to have your mind also in the shepherds of the shepherds who keep the herds of sheep.
