Greece Rousanou Monastery (or Convent)
The mountains of Meteora are a superb place to visit, even if you’re not a photographer. But if you’re not a photographer, you will wish you were when you get here. There is something magical and special about these granite spires reaching upwards into the sky. Honestly, I’ve never been anywhere quite as inspiring as this place.
Photography Tips
Bring your zoom lenses and your wide angles for this region, and book several nights at your accommodations. You will be shooting in the morning hours, evenings, and well past midnight to capture the ever-changing light on these mountains.
Travel Information
You can get here by car or tour bus from Athens. I rented a car and had no problem finding my way around with the help of Google Maps. Seeing as you’ll need your independence to shoot, I highly recommend renting a car. There’s ample parking everywhere.
