Greece Samaria Gorge, Crete
The Samariá Gorge is a national park and a World's Biosphere Reserve. It´s a nice 15km walk through the gorge from the mountains to the sea and many things to see and shoot.
Photography Tips
At daytime shooting great photos is difficult due to very harsh contrasts between the bright sunlight and the dark shadows in the gorge.
Travel Information
Tourist operators offer tours to the Samaria Gorge. You usually start with the tour in the mountains and you walk to the small village Agia Roumeli at the sea. There you will be picked up by boat, because there is no road to Agia Roumeli.
If you do the tour on your own and go there by car you have to walk all the way back (quite tough). Advantage is that you can decide yourself your timing. This may definitely give you better light conditions for great photography.
