The Peak Tower is a huge building on top of The Peak, the mountain that is right on the south border of the city of Hong Kong.

Photography Tips

The view from the top terrace of The Peak Tower is astonishing, day and night.

Every evening at 8 pm, the A Symphony of Lights show illuminates some of the towers around the arbour. The Peak is not the best place to enjoy the show, but some of these lights add a nice touch to the view.

It is difficult to find a place on the terrace to take photos when the night is already there, so make sure to come at least half an hour before the night falls.

Be careful, the wait in the queue to access the Tram can take more than half an hour…

The cable-car/tram is an exciting way to get there but if there is a queue, take a taxi. Its cheap and much easier. I'd definitely recommend getting up there and grabbing a spot at around four in the afternoon - it gets crowded.

Yeah, I heard a lot of good things about Hong Kong. Would you recommend to combine a visit with any other cities or regions "nearby" or is this city something you should explore for more than 5-6 days? I am curious about more beautiful spots over there!! :)

I will had some more spots in Hong Kong. I am here 2 weeks for business, so I only have week-ends and nights for tourism/photo, but I have already seen some nice spots. ;-) Hong Kong is really bigger than just the city, so I think one full week is not to much to discover the region.

I’ve been going there since it was still operating as a British democracy. It used to be our reward after a week or two on China. Now, however, China has so much modernisation, including 5-star hotels that are better and much cheaper than Hong Kong’s. China now has roads that will let you get to spectacular places that were impossible to reach before, with most of the comforts a westerner could want (don’t expect google or Gmail). Guilin, for example, is only 3.5 hours by train. Ping An paddy fields and Yangshuo are about an hour from there. Both are probably on the bucket list of many landscape photographers.
