Iceland The Southernmost point of Iceland
This arch and the sea stacks behind mark the Southernmost point of Iceland is located at the famous Dyrhólaey lighthouse many people come year around to visit. You must continue walking past the lighthouse after parking at the parking lot to get to this stunning view. Please stay on the official trails to preserve nature and not interrupt breeding birds in the summer.
Photography Tips
Capturing the tourists at the top of the arch can add a sense of scale to the scenery. I am not 100% sure if you are legally allowed to walk on the arch since I didn't go to the exact arch location myself. I just stood where the photo was taken. You can play around with wide-angle or tele lenses to capture the entire arch and the birds flying around.
Travel Information
Plenty of parking at the top car park which has been renewed and is finally not a gravel road and parking lot anymore. In the summer of 2023, it was free of charge. From here, its a few minutes walk to the lighthouse and the location itself. I would also suggest checking www.safetravel.is when traveling in Iceland since weather and road conditions can change quickly.
