Gjain is a canyon on Hekla region. It's a romantic and bucolic spot in the middle of a volcanic desert. You can find waterfalls, rivers, lakes and rocks with strange forms.
It's like a little oasis with vegetation in a spot without sign of life. Not to far you can find the ruins of a viking farm from the 12th century abandoned after the eruption of Hekla.

You can arrive until this spot only if you have a four-wheel drive car.Take a good shoes to hiking and take a time to appreciate this place on the different side of the river.
Like every where in Iceland, use a tripod is better.

Rent a 4wd car. You can find a parking at 30 minutes of walk.
