Moments before sunrise, a breathtaking scenery comes up at Diamond Beach in Iceland. The cold of the night and the ice can be felt while the sun slowly rises over the horizon and illuminates everything in a golden warm light. The glacier ice shines and becomes a blue diamond. Come very early. I would suggest an hour before sunrise so you can already spot the location. You can take nice pictures during blue and golden hour.

I used a 14-24mm lens and a tripod, so I had get up close to the ice and photographed close to the ground.

You always have to take care of the strong waves, the ice blocks are often moved by the force!

Since I was so close, I did not use a filter. With the given light however, you can easily exposure up to a second. The aperture must be adjusted accordingly.

If you want to expose longer, you will probably be hit by a wave. And you do not want to have the camera showered...

I came by car. There is a parking lot nearby. You might be able to come by bus as it is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the south of Iceland. However, I guess if there is a bus, it will not arrive before sunset and you are not as flexible as you are with a car.
