This famous black sand beach is located in the East of Iceland. The iconic mountain ridge in the background + the black sand beach creates this surreal landscape.

Photography Tips

Be aware of really strong winds which are quite common in this area. Don't try flying your drone if you can't even open the doors of the rental car. If it's not windy you are lucky! Sunrise is always the best option since the sun rises over the ocean and you can take photos against the light.

Travel Information

You can't drive your car here without paying at the small restaurant at the beginning of the dirt road. they have a gate. Not sure if it's free of charge if you park your car somewhere before that checkpoint and walk past it. If you pay, drive almost to the end.
