Iceland Vatnajökull Ice Cave
Vatnajökull is the largest and most voluminous ice cap in Iceland, and the second largest in area in Europe after the Severny Island ice cap of Novaya Zemlya. It is in the south-east of the island, covering approximately 8% of the country.
Photography Tips
Definitely bring your widest lens and some external lighting of you want to create a shot like this one. Keep in mind that each year the glacier and therefore the ice cave retreats a hundred or so meters so every few months the interior of the cave will be different.
Travel Information
You will need to book a tour to get into the glacier and do it in a safe manner. If you have never been to this glacier I highly recommend this option and highly discourage going on your own. I booked my tour though one of the many tour companies located at the Jökulsárlón lagoon. While expensive they offer a great experience and transportation to the glacier and know where the best phot spots are.
