Iceland Road to Stokksnes

Probably one of the most famous beaches in Iceland after the black sand beach in Vik. The road itself is also worth stopping and is great for photos.

Photography Tips

Use your drone here and take a photo of your rental car or another passing by on this epic road. The mountains in the background are unique, and you can play with different compositions. Come here for sunset to get this fantastic golden light from the left, illuminating the road. To photograph the beach itself, it is nicer to come for sunrise. (Ask the cashier nicely when purchasing the ticket for a free access the morning after coming for sunset)

Travel Information

You have to pay for a roughly 1000ISK ticket to enter the road by car. You could also walk here for free, but driving is also fun and saves you a bit of time. You have a few options along the road to park your car to explore the nearby beach itself. It is a road made out of black sand, which is okay to drive on but might be a bit tricky after heavy rain.
