Iceland Mountain road, Kerlingarfjoll area

The Kerlingarfjoll area is one of the most incredible in the Icelandic Highlands after a long drive (which is doable with a 4x4 car without expert knowledge and no river crossings). Park your car at the marked parking area and go for a hike in the area. Make sure not to leave the trails due to geothermal activities.

Photography Tips

Use your drone to get a different perspective of this location. I used my rental car as a subject to create a cool image of the highlands. The visibility can change quickly, which makes it hard to fly the drone. Also, the wind can pick up fast!

Travel Information

You need a 4x4 car to get to this location since you must drive several dozen kilometers on a gravel road (F35 and F347) in the Icelandic highlands towards Kerlingarfjoll Hot Springs. When traveling in Iceland, it is always nice to check www.safetravel.is for travel information since road conditions can change fast. The road is not accesable during winter.
