Iceland Icelandic lava river
The newest eruption in Iceland (Summer 2023) is the third one in three years and one of the most remarkable things to visit when it's still active during your visit. Seeing an active volcano face to face is a special moment you will never forget!
Photography Tips
I used my drone to get this perspective. Be aware of many other drones and signal losses due to the number of drone remotes. Also, other aircraft might be in the air. Also, don't fly too close to the volcano since you can quickly lose your drone!
Travel Information
To get here, you have to hike 10km one way on a gravel road, which is doable for many people but takes a few hours and can be tiring. Park your car at the marked area (P2) and pay online. When traveling in Iceland, it is always nice to check www.safetravel.is for travel information since the conditions at the volcano can change fast, and for safety reasons, it might be closed at some time frames.
