This is a small spot, which most people would probably not even consider a location. But Iceland has just more to offer than the obvious touristic locations everybody is stopping for. This glacier view is great for a photographic composition but might be boring for a tourist that is not interested in photography.

Photography Tips

You need a good zoom lens to get this kind of photo. I was at 500mm to get this result, and It would have even been cooler if people had walked on the ridge in the foreground for some sense of scale. From this position, you can see some cool textures of the glacier!

Travel Information

You can park your car on this little dirt road part which I marked on the map. It fits 2-3 vehicles, but nobody was there when I stopped. Do not park on the main road and block traffic to get your photo. I would also suggest checking www.safetravel.is when traveling in Iceland since weather and road conditions can change quickly.
