Iceland People watching the Little-Hrútur eruption
The newest eruption in Iceland (Summer 2023) is the third one in three years and one of the most remarkable things to visit when it's still active during your visit. Seeing an active volcano face to face is a special moment you will never forget.
Photography Tips
I used my tele-zoom lens to capture all the people visiting the volcano site. Ensure not to step on old or new lava; be safe out there. I came for sunset since the sun set behind the volcano, creating this golden sky around it!
Travel Information
To get here, you have to hike around 8.5km one way on a gravel road, which is doable for many people but takes a few hours and can be tiring. Park your car at the marked area (P2) and pay online. When traveling in Iceland, it is always nice to check www.safetravel.is for travel information since the conditions at the volcano can change fast, and for safety reasons, it might be closed at some time frames.
