This region is a paradise for hikers who can lose themselves in the rainbow-like mountains. Every time you conquer a mountain, you are rewarded with another spectacular view of the valley and the surrounding landscapes, some of which are still covered in snow.

From the marked parking lot you can start various routes into the highlands around Landmannalaugar. These roads open between mid-June and mid-July and are then passable until September, depending on weather conditions. Here you should drive a 4x4 car and have checked the insurance conditions beforehand. Experience has shown that a spare tire is also a good idea. Find out beforehand how to change and fit them.
