Iceland View to Vatnajökull glacier from Reynisfjall, Vik
The high plateau "Reynisfjall" is a good alternative for hikers to explore the area around Vik. From here you have several "new" perspectives to the ocean with their black beaches or to the Vatnajöjull glacier.
Photography Tips
Don't skimp on weight but take your telephoto lens with you to get closer to the distant glacier massif.
Travel Information
From Vik, you can walk up to the plateau along a well-maintained road. From there, you have every freedom to explore the area. There are rarely any hikers up there and you won't see any cars. For years, the road has been closed to cars with a barrier, so you have to hike. One way takes about 5 kilometers with a good 220 meters of altitude. Watch out for the wind, you are completely at the mercy of it at the top.
