Everyone knows the famous Reynisfjara Beach with its offshore sea stacks. This spot is often overcrowded. But what if you set off on an around 4 kilometer hike to see the stacks from above with your own eyes? This is possible here on the high plateau.

Photography Tips

Use a wide angle and place a person for scale.

Travel Information

From Vik, you can walk up to the plateau along a well-maintained road. From there, you have every freedom to explore the area. There are rarely any hikers up there and you won't see any cars. For years, the road has been closed to cars with a barrier, so you have to hike. One way takes about 4 kilometers with a good 200 meters of altitude. Watch out for the wind, you are completely at the mercy of it at the top. You should only approach the cliffs if you are experienced in hiking and the wind is not strong.
