The school dates back to 1866, during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh. It was originally haveli of the city’s richest salt merchants and there an extensive complex of classrooms and courtyards within. In its day, it was the most prestigious girl’s school in Jaipur. There is said to be, among the cellars, a tunnel linking the school to forts so that royalty and the privileged could be extricated in an emergency. Now owned by a government, who are not good caretakers.

Photography Tips

A standard 24-105 zoom is fine but if you’re able to get inside, I suspect you’ll want to go wide.
