India Modhera Sun Temple
Built early in the 1000s, in the reign of King Bhima I of the Chalukya dynasty, at a time when temple-building was at its peak in India.
The Hindu temple is situated on the Tropic of Cancer, so that on the summer solstice, the sun is directly above the temple, and no shadows form. Much of what once stood here, including the idol of the Sun God, is now gone. However, the water in the stepwell, which originally came from a spring, contains some of the planet’s ugliest turtles.

Photography Tips
Tripods are not permitted. Wide and ultra-wide lenses help capture the surroundings best.
Tour groups wash in and out of here, so be patient if you want images that are not littered with tourists taking selfies.
There is lighting on the steps of the stairwell. It would provide some impressive images for those who come at night to this place.
