India Patwon Ki Haveli, Jaisalmer
Patwon Ki Haveli is a cluster of five large havelis/mansions in the centre of Jaiselmer. They were built of yellow sandstone over 55 years in the early 1800s by local merchant Guman Chand Patwa. Only two of the havelis can be entered: one is a museum giving a sense of what they must have been like when occupied. The second one is, so I’m told, an empty shell.
Photography Tips
The alleyways in Jaisalmer are narrow, making it difficult to stand back and capture much of the façade without an ultra-wide lens.
White balance in the area can be challenging - everything is warmer

Travel Information
A taxi from the local airport nearby will only get you as far as the entrance to the fort.
There are some grand old havelis, so you can stay within the fort. From there, its an easy walk or motorbike ride.
