The origin of the Leaning Tower of Varanasi is uncertain. Some say it was built 500 years ago, others says it is was built in the early 1800s. Either way, the constructors must have known that building in that position would mean much of the structure would be underwater for most of the year, even if they didn’t expect it to develop its current lean of 9 degrees (the Leaning Tower of Pisa struggles to make 4 degrees but is 57 metres, while this one is just 13 metres).

Photography Tips

I found it a challenge. Try lots of angles.

Walking along the shore of the Ganges is probably quicker and more enjoyable than dealing with the crowds and traffic in the Varanasi streets.
