You have to pay extra to get the sunrise shots, which even though crowded are still worth it.

Travel Information

You'll need to travel from Yogyakarta. It's still a reasonable trip, so the options are to get up extremely early or stay in the vicinity. We stayed at the Manohara Hotel, which is on the temple grounds and provides unlimited access (sunrise extra) to the temple and surrounds - well worth it.
