Indonesia Sunset at Kawah Ijen
Mount Ijen is an active volcano on Java, Indonesia. It´s one of the most life-hostile places in the world. Sulphur is all around this place, it comes in thick clouds out of the crater walls, the lake is pure acid, the pH number of the water is 0.8. The colours at this place are unbelievable, the smell is terrible. It´s a place like hell.
Photography Tips
Bring all lenses from wide angle to tele. Brig you tripod. Maybe you can stay at night, the sulphur burns in blue colour, at night you can see it. Wear very old clothes, they will smell like bad eggs for long time.
Travel Information
The tour needs good preperation. Best you go by guided tours. It´s a long and steep ascent, about 700 meter difference in hight to the crater edge, then another 350 meter difference in hight down to the crater itself, also very steep and rugged. You can hire local people for carrying your camera stuff.
