Iran Lut Desert

  • Please log in or sign up for free to see the GPS coordinates & weather for this photo spot
The Lut is probably the most interesting of the Iranian deserts in terms of landscape and probably also the hottest region on our planet, with measured temperatures of over 70°C. Characteristic are the so-called Kaluts, narrow, high rocks.

Photography Tips

The best daytime for photography might be sunrise, when the temperature is still bearable. Expect that the air is not always clear, we are in the desert and the wind blows the sand up.

Travel Information

There are good opportunities for tours into the desert from the next largest city, Kerman, and from the small town of Shahdad, on the edge of the desert, where there are also hotels. From Shahdad there is a road through the desert, but you should always go with a guide, especially if you want to leave the road to drive through the Kaluts.
