Ireland Trim Castle across the River Boyne

Trim Castle was the first and largest castle built by the Normans--Hugh De Lacy and his son, Walter (1173 - 1224). Much of the keep and some of the ramparts remain today. The remains of St. Mary's Abby are there too, They provide many photo opportunities.

Bring a tripod, graduated ND filters and have a raincoat handy.

Travel Information

Trim is a major tourist destination easily reached by car, bike and public transportation. It is about an hour north east of Dublin. There are many B&Bs and restaurants in town. Trim Castle is a park like setting with the river Boyne running through it.
