Ramon Crater is a geological feature of Israel's Negev desert. Located at the peak of Mount Negev, the landform is not actually an impact crater from a meteor nor a volcanic crater formed by a volcanic eruption but rather is the world's largest Makhtesh (crater). It is 40 km long, 2–10 km wide, and 500 meters deep, and is shaped like an elongated heart.

Get to Mitzpe Ramon before sunrise to watch an amazing view. Sunrise provides the best light. However, everything is hazy most of the time, it is better and clearer in late autumn/winter. Strong winds may bother you from time to time, a lens with IS will help and a polarizing filter. Lightroom's "Dehaze" option is a savior!
