Italy Badlands
The ancient village of Aliano and the surrounding badlands, became famous thanks to the writer Carlo Levi, who's been exiled here during the fascism, the book "cristo si é fermato ad Eboli" written during his experience describes this village as so underdeveloped as some African areas and so isolated from the rest of the Italian society that he had problems communicating to people, even the Catholicism was mixed up with local pagan rituals.
Photography Tips
The Badlands offers an un-typical landscape for Italian standards made of numerous volcano-shaped piles of clay scattered all over the area, the atmosphere gets even better when the full moon lights up the hills making it look like the moon itself.
