If you have the need to feel small and face epic mountains in slightly frightening heights this is one of the best places to go to.

Photography Tips

Almost throughout the year you will have the sun rising from behind so if you want the mountains to get illuminated by the sun you should come early. But also without the sun on a cloudy day with clouds lingering around the peaks this is an amazing spot. Regarding lenses you better bring everything you have. From wide angle to some sort of tele lense like 85mm or 135mm should be perfect.

Travel Information

You can park for free on the parking lot of Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the italian dolomites. Costs for using the road to get up are 35€. From there you can walk to the spot which can be pretty exhausting due to the thin air and steep paths. Other than that its fairly easy to find.
In winter, the road may be closed due to weather conditions. You can walk up to the Rifugio Auronzo but this will take you about 2-3 Hours steep walking.

For this location is the road closed during december? planning my trip in december but i want to make sure i'll be able to access it. Do you use uber to get here from Venice?

Just a question to see if I understood where the place is from where you took the photo: I start at the Rifugio Auronzo, pass the little church on the left, and arrive at the Rifugio Lavaredo. On the left the path leads to the Rifugio Locatelli, but I go straight on, skirting a small lake on the right. I go on for a while and then I find this location. Correct?

Did you shoot this with a drone? How do you get a angle higher up?

Thank you! Yeah I did. When you get out of the car you will already spot those peaks in the opposite direction of Tre Cime itself and already guess the way from there.

Such a great shot Christoph! When I was at the the cime last year I sadly didn't know that spot. But I'll keep that in mind for next time.

Dang, thats unfortunate! But you have to visit this place more than once anyway so I guess you will get the shot some day. Appreciate your comment!

I have to go again anyway, since I had a car breakdown last time and was therefore really only at the tre cime. The Dolomites offer so much more :).
