Italy Nuvolau refuge panorama

This spot is located near Cortina d'Ampezzo, a really beautifull area in the Dolomites. From this spot you have an amazing panorama over the surrounding mountains, including Cinque Torri, Monte Pelmo, and Tofana.

Photography Tips

Bring a sturdy tripod as the place can be very windy. Sunset and sunrise are equally interesting to catch wonderfull light.

Travel Information

Park your car at the Passo di Giau or at the Passo Falzarego. From both sides you may access the rifugio Averau via cable cars, and finish the ascension by feet. You may also avoid cable cars and walk from both sides to the refuge Nuvolau. Average time is two hours in this case.

It is a small Rifugio that only takes 24 people - the food and company are great though. Best Apricot Schnapps I have ever had.

Good to know, I stayed at the Rifugio Lagazuoi a few years ago, and love the surroundings there, something for next time :)

I led a group of Explorer Scouts along AV1 in 2016 and we stayed at several rifugi including Lagazuoi (great for sunrise pictures) that also has the highest sauna in the Dolomites.
