Italy Podere Belvedere, Val D'Orcia
Probably one of the most photographed spots in Val D'Orcia. I had the luxury of residing right next to the spot so I could practically walk each morning up the road to photograph. Especially when it's a little bit foggy, this place is truly magical.
Photography Tips
Zoom lens is required. Tripod is a must. Filters are optional.
Travel Information
The most important thing to remember is once you park along the side of the road, you must go down to the orchard, the view is much better. However, there are many vantage points along the same road, some that hinder the view of the building through the gorgeous cypresses, and some that reveal the beauty of this red building. I suggest scouting a day before. This is a sunrise spot so there is not much traffic along the road, most will be photographers. You can also at sunset but the mood is totally different, definitely when you are looking for fog.
One word of caution: The dogs will bark but they are usually tied and cannot jump on you. Marieke in the spot comments had a different experience though and got bit, so please be extremely cautious and respectful with the residents. Always imagine you would live there and lots of people would stand there every morning. How would you want them to behave?
