The Capitoline Square, Italian: Piazza del Campidoglio, is the central square of the Capitoline Hill in Rome from early modern times until today. The Italian state has awarded Capitoline Square with the European Heritage Label.
At the entrance of the piazza the statues of the twin Castor and Pollux
(dated 2nd cent. AD).
In the middle of the piazza a copy of the equestrian statue of emperor Marcus Aurelius. You can find the original one in the Capitoline Museum next to the piazza. This statue is the best-preserved example of a bronze equestrian statue of ancient times.

Photograph Piazza del Campidoglio in the early morning or late afternoon for soft light and fewer crowds. Use a wide-angle lens to capture the symmetry of the square and Michelangelo’s architectural design. Try shooting from the top of the Cordonata staircase for a dramatic perspective.
Travel Information
Piazza del Campidoglio is on Capitoline Hill in Rome. You can get there by bus from Termini Station to Piazza Venezia, then walk up the Cordonata staircase. It’s also a 10-minute walk from the Colosseo metro station.
